Governing Council

Governing Council

Governing councils work with the principal to help set and monitor the direction of the school.

Parents are elected to the Governing Council at a general meeting held in February of each year. The governing council holds meetings twice a term. The Governing Council is committed to engaging with the broader parent community to share information, encourage discussion and collect feedback.

In your role on a governing council, you work with the principal to:

  • involve the local community
  • develop and approve local policies
  • set the broad direction and vision of the site
  • monitor and review the site improvement plan

The principal works with the governing council to:

  • give educational leadership
  • carry out the site’s policies
  • carry out the site improvement plan.

Parents do not have to be a member of the Governing Council to volunteer to be on a sub-committee.
